Diljit Dosanjh has found himself in hot water after casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his film Sardaar Ji 3. He has been facing backlash for his decision, which comes amid growing tensions between India and Pakistan. Some netizens have also tagged him as a ‘traitor’ and accused him of not keeping in mind the country’s interests.
Now, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has written a letter to the makers of Border 2, Diljit’s upcoming Bollywood film.

The letter, which is addressed to Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta and Anurag Singh, reads, “The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), representing the core workforce of the Indian film and television industry, is deeply disappointed and concerned by the casting of actor-singer Mr. Diljit Dosanjh in your upcoming film Border 2 produced under the banner of JP Films in collaboration with T-Series and directed by Mr. Anurag Singh.”

It continued, “By choosing to collaborate with an artist who has so brazenly ignored the ongoing tensions and national sentiment, your production has directly undermined the stand taken by the Indian film industry in solidarity with the nation. FWICE has time and again made its position clear–we will not accept or tolerate any cooperation or collaboration with Pakistani artists in any form or on any platform. Such actions are a disservice to the sacrifices made by our armed forces and citizens who continue to face the consequences of cross-border hostilities and terrorism.”

FWICE urged the makers of Border 2 to immediately reconsider their casting decision and stand by the nation and industry’s collective stand. Earlier this week, FWICE issued a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding strict action against Diljit Dosanjh and urged the government to revoke the singer-actor’s passport.

Meanwhile, Sardaar Ji 3 is set to release only overseas on June 27. It will not be released in India.
