VIGAN, Ilocos Sur — Capital1 coach Jorge De Brito went straight from Chavit Coliseum to Laoag Airport to fly back to Manila for Alas Pilipinas’ training.
De Brito had to depart for Manila as the national team gears up for the VTV International Cup in Vietnam. Joining De Brito in the trip back to Manila are Alas players Leila Cruz of Capital1 as well as Akari’s Fifi Sharma and Justine Jazareno, who supported their respective squads in the PVL on Tour opener on Sunday.

The Brazilian and the three players, part of VTV’s initial roster, trained on Monday.
Despite needing to cut his Ilocos Sur trip short, De Brito is soaking up all the lessons from a tough 10-25, 21-25, 10-25 loss to Creamline in Pool B.
“We’re going to play much better than we did last night. Congrats to the strong Creamline team,” he told the reporters.
Capital1 assistant coach Jerome Guhit will call the shots for the Solar Spikers, who seek to bounce back against the Cignal HD Spikers on Monday to cap the league’s stop in Vigan.

De Brito, who last coached in the PVL in 2023, admitted that the Solar Spikers are still adjusting after he was tapped to take over the coaching reins early this month.
“We need to stay calm and execute what we’ve been doing in training. We’re not yet ready, but I can assure you we’re much better than we were last night. Our team knows,” the new Capital1 coach said.
Alas, led by Brooke Van Sickle, is flying to Vietnam on Thursday for their second tournament this year before the SEA V.League next month.
They are in VTV Cup Pool A against their Nations Cup championship tormentor Vietnam, Australia, and Sichuan Wuliangchun of China.
