Review by MD Ekram Parvez – Watchmoviesonline.in

Rating: 4/5

“First Copy” is a gripping tale set in the 1990s Mumbai, capturing the essence of ambition, struggle, and the dark underbelly of the film industry. Directed by Farhan P. Zamma, the series features Munawar Faruqui in a stellar performance as a young man who turns to video piracy after facing humiliation in a film production company. The narrative beautifully intertwines drama and suspense, offering a unique perspective on the era’s societal issues.

The series chronicles the protagonist’s journey from a struggling young man to a piracy kingpin, presenting his story as one of perseverance against all odds. Munawar Faruqui delivers a compelling performance, embodying the youthful optimism and determination of a man set to revolutionize a deeply conservative field. His chemistry with the supporting cast, including Meiyang Chang, Gulshan Grover, and Raza Murad, is particularly strong, adding depth to the series.

However, the narrative takes a gripping turn when the protagonist’s illegal empire attracts the attention of a determined cop. This cat-and-mouse chase adds a tense layer to the story, with each character facing their gravest challenges. Despite some pacing issues, the series maintains a strong emotional core that resonates with the audience.

Despite these shortcomings, “First Copy” offers a decent time pass with fresh faces and an unconventional plot. It’s a lighthearted entertainer that, while not a cinematic masterpiece, provides a fun escape for audiences looking for engaging performances and a nostalgic trip to the 90s.
