EXCLUSIVE: Mandell Maughan (Resident Alien) has landed a recurring role in Netflix‘s just-announced Bert Kreischer comedy Free Bert, sources tell Deadline.
Reps for Netflix declined to comment.
Stand-up comedian Kreischer co-created, exec produces and stars as himself — shirtless comedian, party legend, perpetual wildcard — in Free Bert, where he finds himself in uncharted territory when his daughters are accepted to an elite Beverly Hills private school. When his unbridled antics turn his family into outcasts, he decides to “put on a shirt” and stifle his true nature to better fit in.
As previously announced, Arden Myrin also stars in the six-episode series, along with newcomers Ava Ryan and Lilou Lang. Myrin plays Bert’s wife LeeAnn and the mother of their two daughters who grew up in a trailer park. Ryan will play the couple’s older daughter, Georgia, who is the target of cyberbullying.
In addition to Kreischer, Free Bert is co-created and exec produced by Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel (Huge in France, The Grinder), who serve as writers, directors and showrunners. Also executive producing the series are Kreischer’s wife, LeeAnn Kreischer; Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and Elise Henderson for Counterpart Studios; as well as Judi Marmel.
Previously seen in prominent roles on the series Resident Alien, Bajillion Dollar Propertie$, and Me, Myself and I, Maughan’s other credits include Sean Saves the World, The Millers, House of Lies and Undateable. She is represented by CESD and Strand Entertainment.
