Netflix dropped the trailer for Quarterback Season 2, which features NFL stars Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals), Jared Goff (Detroit Lions), and Kirk Cousins (Atlanta Falcons).
The NFL docuseries will start streaming on July 8 and give football fans unprecedented access to three quarterbacks during the 2024-25 NFL season.
“You only have so many of these seasons,” Burrow says in the trailer. “You start out your career and you [say], ‘OK, I’m going to be playing for 15-20 years.’ It seems like a lot, and then you blink your eye and you’re in year 5. Next time I blink my eye, it’s going to be year 10. Now we’re wrapped. The great ones make it work.”
The Bengals ended the 2024-2025 season 9-8 and in fourth place in the AFC North.
Goff of the Detroit Lions took his team to the playoffs and swept their division with a franchise record of 15-2. For the former Los Angeles Rams quarterback, proving he was worthy of leading the team was something he explored in the new season of Quarterback.
“I feel so lucky to be the quarterback,” Goff says in the trailer. “Our expectations internally are to win a Super Bowl.”
Goff adds, “A lot of people in my former organization may have thought I was being cast away, but I saw an opportunity I had here was special.”
Tom Brady is featured during the trailer as an NFL analyst saying he would love to be a quarterback for the Lions’ offense, with Goff saying, “Yeah, too bad, Tom. You’re retired.”
The preview also explores Burrow’s fame outside of the NFL, his strides in the fashion world, and his house break-in last year.
Quarterback Season 2 also features the return of Cousins, who is now leading the Atlanta Falcons and was a breakout star in the first season of the NFL docuseries. The season will show Cousins and his team go 7-7 for the Falcons, which signed him to a four-year $180M contract. However, he soon lost his starting role to Michael Penix Jr., whom the team drafted eighth overall.
