The NFL is suspending kicker Justin Tucker.
The former Baltimore Raven is suspended for the first 10 weeks of the season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, the NFL announced Thursday.
As a free agent, Tucker can serve his suspension without a contract from a new NFL club. The ban will take effect on Aug. 26 and he will be eligible for reinstatement on Nov. 11.
“We are disappointed with the NFL’s decision,” Tucker’s agent Rob Roche said in a statement obtained by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “He stands by his previous statements. In order to put this difficult episode behind him and get back on the field as soon as possible, we have advised Justin to accept this resolution and close this matter.”
The 35-year-old was released by the Ravens in May, months after reports that he was accused by massage therapists of inappropriate sexual behaviour, for which the NFL said it would investigate.
Tucker has maintained he did not act inappropriately while receiving professional treatment.
