Whew! Roommates, the rapper That Mexican OT has riled up social media after he tried to justify why he thinks its cool for him to use the n-word.  A clip from his recent interview popped up on the internet just a day after Juneteenth and have folks have been sounding off ever since, even a few celebs seemed to chime in. Here’s what happened…

That Mexican OT Faces Heat After Remarks About Racial Slur Surface

A clip from That Mexican OT’s sit-down on Angela Yee’s ‘Lip Service’ podcast has been making rounds on social media. The interview started going viral after Cleopatra straight-up asked him, “Do you feel like you can say the n-word?” Mexican OT then responds back saying, “I feel like I can say it, but not because of that.” 

He then went on to say he wished some Black dudes were in the room. Then once he spotted somebody, he continued, “What the f*** are you going to do about it, you know? And second of all I grew up loving these m****r f******s. I grew up fighting with them, eating with them.” 

Mexican OT followed up by saying its not about having Black family, its about what he grew up around.

“I respect people that feel that way and that’s why I try to shut the f*** up about it, but if you’re from where I’m from or anywhere. What the f*** are you going to do about it? It’s like I done went to the jungle and earned the lions head,” he added.

Mexican OT Speaks Out After His Interview Clips Go Viral

Right after the interview clips started blowing up on social media, Mexican OT jumped on Instagram to share some words with his fans. He showed love to everyone who’s been rocking with him and thanked them for all the support.

“I know I’m a handful thank y’all for who still with me. Every race every gender every age thank you for showing me greatness n love,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, folks in The Shade Room’s comment section weren’t having it at all. Check out some of their reactions below.

Instagram user @queenjomusic wrote, “Just because you love us don’t make you us….” 

Instagram user @wiztrilleafa wrote, “Saying “what are you going to do about it” in a room full of black men should’ve been grounds to getting JUMPED … cmon now.” 

While Instagram user @somepisceschic wrote, “What is non black peoples obsession with saying the n word.” 

Another Instagram user @breland wrote, “The same people that hate us hate them, but still idk if that gives you a pass.” 

Instagram user @dailydosesofdee wrote, “Prime example of when yall let people NOT from our culture just loiter in it!!” 

While another Instagram user @jordan.wooten wrote, “My thing is why are y’all obsessed with saying this particular word but y’all aren’t obsessed with any other type of racial slur. It’s so weird.” 

Instagram user @sheisdeejolie wrote, “It’s A No For Me. I’m Annoyed They’re Sitting There Laughing 🙄” 

Then another Instagram user @babypmya wrote, “They should’ve jumped him idk.” 

Finally, Instagram user @starfloww rote, “Ion care how close you are to black ppl. Don’t say it if you not BLACK!!!” 

Rappers Monaleo & Anycia Seemingly React To Use Of Racial Slurs

Rappers Monaleo and Anycia seemingly jumped in after That Mexican OT’s clip went viral. They didn’t call him out by name, but they definitely had some strong opinions about the use of racial slurs.

Monaleo took to X (formerly Twitter) saying that she finds it offensive to allow anyone the audacity to disrespect a community.

“all this talk about who can/can’t say n**** a day after juneteenth is egregious if not u not black don’t say n****! the f*** be wrong with y’all? shame on anybody condoning the use of a slur towards a marginalized community that isn’t even your own. in 2025 at that. the audacity !”

While Anycia kept it simple also taking to X, saying if you are not a par of the culture, you should not be using the word.

“if u not black. stop saying n****. period. idk why that’s so hard??? idc who u grew up with. if u NOT black expand ur vocabulary,” Anycia wrote.
